 WorkSafeBC Hazard Recognition and Control

Hazard Recognition and Control is a WorkSafe course developed by WorksafeBC (the Workers Compensation Board of BC). It aims at helping participants to identify hazards and apply effective strategies to control them in their workplace.

The course will be of interest to workers, new supervisors, joint health and safety committee members, worker health and safety representatives, and business owners or operators who wish to improve health and safety knowledge in their workplace.
 

The following items are covered in this WorkSafeBC Hazard Recognition and Control with WHMIS class:

  • Responsibilities for OH&S
  • Hazard Analysis-Safe Work Procedures
  • Hazard Recognition Workshop
  • Lockout Procedures
Learning Outcomes:
Successful completion of the course will enable participants to:
-Explain the legal responsibilities of employers, workers, supervisors, and others
-Identify workplace hazards and locate pertinent regulatory requirements
-Develop safe work procedures and corrective measures to control hazards
-Apply the process of identification, control, and evaluation to eliminate hazards or reduce risks specific to their industry
 
 

Successful participants will be awarded a WorkSafeBC Certificate. Students may also apply to BCIT for .5 unit of credit towards an elective component in BCIT’s Occupational Health and Safety Certificate Program.
