Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)

This course is intended for all persons Handling, Offering and Transporting Dangerous Goods in Canada.

This is a pre-requisite for Guideline B - people handling Dangerous goods, Guideline C - Offering For Transport Dangerous Goods or Guideline D - Transporting Dangerous Goods

Topics Covered:

1.      Basics of the legislation, history, the act and the regulations, and defined legislated responsibilities.

2.      The Classification System, nine classes of dangerous goods and their associated hazards.

3.      Shipping names, classes, UN Number and packing groups for dangerous goods encountered on the job.

4.      Information required on the shipping document.

5.      The requirements regarding mixed loads, segregation of dangerous goods.

6.      Choose proper means of containment.

7.      Proper use of all equipment that is used in the handling, offering for transport and or transportation of dangerous goods.

8.      Dangerous goods and ERAP’s (Emergency Response Assistance Plans, Emergency Response and Reporting Requirements.

Regulatory Requirements:

Every worker in Canada who is handling, offering for transport or transporting the dangerous goods is required to be trained. To be renewed every 3 years and a new certificate issued.

Confined Spaces Training

Entry into tanks and other confined spaces by workers is necessary for many industrial operations. From experience, it is well known that entry into such confined spaces may present a hazard to the worker.

This course is designed to create awareness of hazards, precautions, and the regulations associated with confined spaces; it will be especially helpful for those workers whose jobs are related to permit required confined spaces.:

Lockout / Tagout Training

This course has been designed to provide information to employers and employees about what lockout and tagout refers to, the general requirements for lockout and tagout devices during servicing and maintenance of machines or equipment, the purpose of lockout and tagout procedures and energy control programs and the need for effective employee training and communication in the workplace.
