Respirator Qualitative Fit Testing

Our technicians will help your company with scheduling to make your Respiratory program run smoothly. We maintain a database of your information and send electronic copies of test results.

There are two primary reasons for :
  • Verification of Training – after the individual has received respirator training, a Fit test checks that the person has learned how to properly put on and wear a respirator without assistance.
  • Sizing – It is important to make sure that the individual issued a respirator that is capable of providing protection when worn properly, that is, it is the right size.

Arbor Safety Consulting fit testers are extensively trained on and closely adhere to the latest CSA standards as they relate to Respiratory Protection.  All qualitative and quantitative protocols are strictly followed and with respect to qualitative testing only Bitrex® is used as a challenge agent.

Qualitative Fit Testing (QLFT)
The objective of QLFT is to ensure an effective seal when using a tight fitting face piece (respirator).
The following topics are covered during a QLFT:  proper donning and doffing of the respirator; performing seal checks; care, use and maintenance of the respirator and defining the differences between N-Series, R-Series, P-Series respirators as well as half and full face respirators.
Any person who is required to wear a tight fitting face piece during the course of their normal day to day duties, or any person who is required to wear a tight fitting face piece for emergency response activities should be fit tested to ensure an effective seal.
All participants who successfully complete the fit test are provided with a wallet card indicating the respirator fitted and its size.
