Contract Safety (Prime)

This program is designed to provide information and guidance to “Owners” regarding their relationship with contractors who are contracted with to undertake repairs, maintenance and projects of all sizes.

During the presentation the instructor will lead the participants through the various levels of legislation that will influence the decisions to be made when entering into an agreement for contract services.

Topics discussed include:

¬ The responsibilities of the Owner
¬ When and where a “Prime Contractor” should be put in place.
¬ The limitations of direction and guidance that an Owner should provide to a contractor.
¬ The legal requirements of “ensuring compliance with the Regulation”.
¬ The ramifications of going beyond the basic requirements and scope of “ensuring compliance”.

At the end of the program, the participant will have the information, direction and documentation that will help assist in:

¬ Making decisions regarding Prime Contractor status.
¬ Ensuring that their system does not jeopardize their relationship with a contractor.
¬ Ensuring their own personnel do not take actions which will jeopardize the relationship with a contractor.
¬ Ensuring their personnel understand the legal requirements when working with contractors.

Participants will be provided information to select, monitor and manage contractors in accordance with legislation. Participants will be alerted to the importance of contractual selection, monitoring and review processes to ensure safe working practices for all parties.
